Adding a Colgate News Story Feed

Why add a News Story Feed?

A Colgate News Story Feed allows your page to pull in recent stories published on the Colgate News blog to your own webpage. Stories can be sorted by subject and category, and help provide some regularly updated, relevant content to help your page stay fresh.

Adding a News Story Feed

  1. Open the editor for the piece of content you'd like to add your News Story Feed to. (See Accessing the Page Editor if you're not sure how)
  2. In the Sections area of the editor, either add a new section or click Edit on an existing section.
  3. Under Content, click the arrow of the drop-down menu. By default, the drop-down displays Add Text. Choose Add News [news cards] from the drop-down menu.
  4. You should now have a News widget added under your content area. Add a title in the Title field. This will display as header text over your News widget.
  5. Use the Departments, Categories, and Tags fields to narrow down the content you'd like your widget to pull in. Begin typing the item you're looking for in one of the fields and select the item from the drop-down menu.
    1. Academic departments and programs can select news stories related to their departments using the Departments field.
    2. The Categories field includes general topics for news stories, such as Athletics, Community Service, and Alumni Profiles.
    3. The Tags field includes more specific tags applied individually to each story. Common tags include story subjects (tech, football, environment), department codes (ARTS, POSC), and faculty and staff names (formatted as they are in email addresses — i.e., bcasey, thucks, ljack).
  6. Add additional filters to the Departments, Categories and Tags fields using the Add Another Item button beneath each field.
