Adding Expandable Content
What is Expandable Content?
Expandable content allows users to show or hide the content contained in the widget with a single click. It's a useful widget for organizing your content when you have large sections of text or other content that may not be relevant for all users of the page. You may also hear it referred to as an "accordion," because of the way an accordion expands and contracts as you play it. Get it?
Adding Expandable Content
- Open the editor for the piece of content you'd like to add your expandable content to. (See Accessing the Page Editor if you're not sure how)
- In the Sections area of the editor, either add a new section or click Edit on an existing section.
- Under Content, click the arrow of the drop-down menu. By default, the drop-down displays Add Text. Choose Add Accordion from the drop-down menu. Accordion is the Drupal terminology for expandable content.
- You should now have an accordion widget added under your content area. Under Accordion will display two check boxes which control the widget's behavior:
- Open First: When checked, the first Accordion Item in the widget will be expanded by default when the page is loaded. If not checked, all Accordion Items will default to closed.
- Open Multiple: When checked, this allows multiple Accordion Items to be expanded at once. If not checked, clicking to expand a new Accordion Item will close all expanded Accordion Items.
- Within the Accordion widget, you can have multiple Accordion Items. Each item displays as a separate clickable area that expands to show different content. Each Accordion Item requires a Title and Text, with the option to add other content.
- The Title appears on the expandable content when it is closed, and at the top of the content when it is expanded.
- The Text and other content is revealed when the content is expanded. To add other content within the Accordion Item, use the drop-down box under the Content header.
- To add another Accordion Item, click Add Accordion Item.
