Embedding Video
Drupal offers functionality for embedding video from YouTube on a page. If you have questions about producing a video or getting your video onto YouTube, please email Communications at website@colgate.edu.
To embed a video:
- Open the editor for the piece of content you'd like to add your video to. (See Accessing the Page Editor if you're not sure how)
- In the Sections area of the editor, either add a new section or click "Edit" on an existing section.
- Under Content, click the arrow of the drop-down menu. By default, the drop-down displays "Add Text". Choose "Add Video [embedded video]" from the drop-down menu.
- Copy and paste the YouTube video's title into the Title field. Feel free to simplify the title if the posted title is overly long or complex.
- To paste the video's URL,
- copy the following text: https://www.youtube.com/embed/
- And paste it into the URL field.
- Navigate to the YouTube video you want to embed and, in the URL, copy the text following "watch?v=".
- Paste the copied text into the URL field following "https://www.youtube.com/embed/"
- Add a caption for your video in the Caption field if desired.
